Cherish the Ladies rock the house with Irish lilt and laughter….it would be easy to mistake this group for a rock band, since it puts on a thoroughly entertaining show, complete with vibrant music, appealing singing, elaborate step dancing and a surprising amount of comedy. Madden is the group’s star and leader for a couple of reasons. For one, she’s a larger-than-life personality with a stand-up comic’s sense of timing and humor. But what mostly distinguishes Madden and her band is the sheer virtuosity of their music making.

The ensembles flawless performance makes the Celtic Celebration look easy! The sold out pops concert was stellar from start to finish. These women wowed us with their immense skill and utter mastery of the material.

…the blend of the ladies with the symphony made the music one musical body which added up to one of the least pretentious and most welcome pops shows in a long, long time.

The St. Patrick’s Day spectacular drew a capacity crowd to hear Cherish the Ladies, the immaculately playing, high energy band, and Joanie Madden and the troupe did not disappoint. The Celtic band was the centerpiece of the performance; wonderful music…spectacular dancing…the ladies and the symphony were at their lyrical best!

When Cherish the Ladies first appeared with our orchestra, the experience was not only exquisite but also unexpected. We knew these women could make great music — but we didn’t realize they could be so hilarious. Joanie Madden should patent her wacky sense of humor. She’s a national treasure. I’m sure Ireland and America are fighting over her. I can’t wait to see what she and the group bring to their Christmas concert with us!

Cherish the Ladies with the BPO deliver Close-To-Perfect Irish Program. It was a fun-filled Saturday evening with a full house packed with enthusiastic fans…. It was a fine, fine way to spend a Saturday evening. All of the musicians seemed to be on top of their game; the orchestral entrances were close to perfect and the Madden-led ensemble played cleanly, convincingly and with verve.

Cherish the Ladies is the real thing. Their pure love of the music jumped off the stage and into the audiences hearts. Through the unique combination of their extraordinary musicianship and dance, Joanie Madden and her band delivered and experience we will never forget!

The Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra Pops, led by guest conductor Michael Krajewski, joined forces Friday with the internationally acclaimed, all-female group for a high-energy evening of Irish music both traditional and recently written and dance. Cherish the Ladies brought a seemingly effortless mastery of Irish music and style and wonderful foot-tapping tunes to the stage.
